PASSIVATING

Passivation is the treatment of a metal with a mild oxidant that removes iron, oils, and other contaminants. This allows the metals natural passive layer to be improved and prevent corrosion. Stainless steels and nickel alloys passivate automatically, but while they are being formed and handled, foreign contaminants can invade the passive layer. Passivation restores the passive layer to prevent corrosion. Tubing Central can offer passivation with nitric acid and citric acid baths and can meet all major industry standards.
